Jain Surti Undhiyu Recipe

  1. Cut the Papdi into 2 pieces vertically (2halves), boil the raw bananas and remove the skin of it and cut it into cubes
  2. Wash all the vegetables, methi bhaji coriander, finely chop them and grate the coconut. Apply salt to the methi bhaji and keep it aside for 5 mins. Squeeze all the water from it
  3. Mix coconut, green chilli ginger paste, coriander, salt, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp dhana jeera powder, 11/2 red chilli powder, 1 tbsp lemon juice to prepare the masala
  4. Add methi leaves, whole wheat , besan, 3tsp green chilli paste,21/2 tsp sugar, turmeric, chilli powder, soda and oil
  5. Take a thick bottom pan/ kadhai to deep fry the methi muthiyas. Once they are light brown in color remove them on an absorbent paper
  6. For coriander coconut masala, add coconut, coriander, dhana jeera, 2 tsp green chilli paste, ugar, lemon juice and salt
  7. Stuff half of the above masala in Tendli and raw banana
  8. Tthe other remaining half add in to papdi, toovar daana and keep it aside for 10 mins
  9. Heat the oil in the pressure cooker, add ajwain, hing, soda and then add stuff bananas, tendli and other vegetable into it with 2 cups of water and salt
  10. Cook for about 2 whistles
  11. Transfer the cooked vegetables into a big non sick pan and add muthiyas into it and stir and toss slowly
  12. Garnish with coriander and Serve it hot with rotis

  1. Wash the toor dal, soak it in water for 3 hrs and pressure cook it till 3 to 4 whistles
  2. Take a big thick bottom pan and add 1 tbsp oil in it. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillies asefotida to it. Add the churned toor dal to it
  3. UAdd 4 times the water to toor dal and bring it to boil
  4. Prepare the wheat dough by adding salt , turmeric, red chili powder and water as required
  5. Make 15 thin chapatis and cut diamond shapes and add them gradually to te boiled toor dal
  6. Add the boiled ground nuts, lemon juice and chopped coriander to it and serve hot if hot. You can serve rice with it

  1. soak the dal overnight
  2. wash the dal twice thrice until water is clear. Add salt, water, ginger and turmeric in the dal. pressure cook the dal for about 4-5 whistles or take a thick bottom pan and boil it on medium heat.
  3. Mix the dal well; there should be no lumps in it. thee consistency of the dal should be thick.
  4. Add ghee in a deep thick bottom pan for tadka. Add mustard seeds, cumin, asafoetida, curry leaves and green chillies. Saute till the mustard seeds splatter.
  5. Add the tomatoes in the tadka
  6. add the dried masalas as well and cook it for 3 to 4 mintues. Make sure the masalas dont burn, so keep stirring in between.
  7. Pour the dal with the cooked masala and cover the lid for 3-4 mintues until the dal starts boiling
  8. Garnish the dal with corainder and serve it hot with rice or chapati.
